PhotoAlbumsMesh is a family photo backup. It is still before its first release, so some steps below describe the apps as they will work when you can download them. See the download page for the state today.
How do I back up my phone?
The Windows computer app is released; the Android and iPhone apps are coming, so these steps apply when your phone app is out. Install PhotoAlbumsMesh on the family computer first, then on each phone. Put the phone on the same Wi-Fi as the computer, open the phone app and follow the steps. The phone backs up your photos and videos to the computer. Android phones back up in the background. On iPhone, Apple limits background work, so open the app for a moment to start a backup right away.
How do I add a phone (pairing)?
On the family computer, open the app and choose to add a phone. The computer shows a code (a QR code). On the phone, scan that code. You do not need an account, a user name or a password. If the scan does not work, check that the phone and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi, and that the computer app is open.
Where do my photos go?
They go to a folder on your family computer, one folder for each person. They are ordinary files that you can open, copy and keep with any other program. With the free version, your photos are not sent to us.
Does the app delete photos from my phone?
No. PhotoAlbumsMesh never deletes anything from a phone. Deleting a photo on the phone also does not delete it from the computer.
Some photos were left out. Where are they?
The junk filter leaves out screenshots, receipts, documents and near copies. Nothing is deleted. The left-out photos stay on the phone on a review screen, and you can keep any of them with one tap or switch a category off.
A phone does not back up. What can I check?
Is the family computer on and the app open? Are the phone and the computer on the same Wi-Fi? Does the computer have free disk space? If all three are fine, close and open the phone app once. If it still does not work, write to us and tell us your phone model, your computer system and what the app shows.
How do I remove the app?
Remove PhotoAlbumsMesh like any other app: on Android and iPhone, press and hold the app icon and choose to uninstall or remove it; on Windows use Settings, Apps; on Mac drag the app to the Bin; on Linux use your package manager. Your photos stay: removing the app does not delete the photo folder on your computer.
Do I have an account to delete?
No. The app has no account, so there is nothing to delete on our side. Your photos are on your own computer, and you delete them there.
